I'm Still Here

Hi. How are you guys? It's been a while, I know. I've missed you too.

I'm sure you realize there's a lot going on with me these days. Many things pulling me in many different directions. But I haven't forgotten about you. I've just been too tired to think of anything good to write.

Not for lack of trying, mind you.

I was going to write this whole "Open Letter to Chris Nolan" thing, praising him for the total kick-ass job he did with DARK KNIGHT. (Cause he did. The movie freakin' rules.) I tried to write it and the words just weren't coming out. Not the way I wanted them to. So...I scrapped the whole thing.

Speaking of DARK KNIGHT, the success of that movie completes this summer's comic book movie trifecta--which includes IRON MAN, THE INCREDIBLE HULK and DARK KNIGHT. Despite the Michael Bay level of suckiness of INDY 4, it's been a good summer to be a movie fan. And while you're at it, add KUNG FU PANDA and WALL-E to the list of awesomeness as well.

I must give massive props--are the kids still saying that these days..."props"? Or is it "big ups"?--Well, whatever they are I give a lot of them to my amazing wife, who understands that with me the need to see the big summer movies is instinctual, and not only allows, but demands that I carve out a few hours on a Sunday to geek out at the movie theater with the boys.

You might think that my exhaustion is all baby related. But that's not exactly the case. See, for the past few nights, I've been plagued by nightmares. Vicious, ugly, unsettling dreams that shake me awake in the middle of the night. And they stay with me for hours after I wake up. Normally I forget my dreams by the time I finish shaving in the morning. (Yes, even with a beard I still have to shave.) But these images remain vivid long after I've arrived at my office.

But I didn't come here to complain. I just wanted to check in and tell you that things are good. Sprout is getting plumper and more alert every day, but she still totally looks like her brother. Though most of my parenting time is spent with the Bean, Sprout and I have had a few quiet moments together, which I relish. Despite having a ferocious cry, for the most part Sprout is a calm baby who loves nothing more than to be held by her mom.

Well, that's it for now. I should be back up and running full stream again soon. I'm sure I'll have lots to tell you about Comic Con. But in the meantime, I'm going to knock myself out with some Tylenol PM and call it a night.
