I'm usually not one to root for people to fail, but hearing about this article made me smile. I spent a few tumultuous years as a Saab owner and never has a product and the service around a product filled me with such contempt for a company.
It tickles me that every month a few people find their way to my blog using the keywords "Saabs suck". I feel bad that others are having their own car troubles, but I'm glad to know that I'm not alone.
So farewell Saab! I'm sorry for the people who are losing their jobs as a result of your failure, but I'm not sorry to see you go.

The only one I've ever liked was the convertible. Other than that they were just kinda weird looking.
SOB. Oh, what do I care, I've never owned one.
The news article you linked to had a photo of a Saab logo. In it, the lion (or whatever it is) appears to be sticking his tongue out at Saab owners everywhere. Maybe that explains it.
I've had a bunch of these over the years and loved every one of them. I've also put almost 300,000 miles combined on them. 160,000 on my current one. And the only thing I've done is normal wear and tear things. I'm sorry you had a bad experience by I love my Saab and the ones that have now departed this mortal coil. I was sad when I read that article. Also, it's a Griffin on the logo.
Andrea...The new models were sleek and cool.
James...And I guess you now never will.
YEO...That pretty much sums it up right there.
Diggy...I've heard that you either get a great one with no problems, or a total lemon like I had. Sigh.
my husband's EX-step father is selling us his old saab. so far i'm not impressed. the alarm likes to go off and doesn't shut off until it feels like it. no amount of hitting the button, driving the car, etc. will change that. but hey, it's cheap and we don't have to finance it through a bank.
Andromeda...Sounds like yours has a gremlin in it too. I hope that the alarm is the only trouble with it. Though if you're getting a car for cheap you'll probably put up with a lot more. I bought mine and ended up taking a bath on it.
