Being Me

“So where are you going tonight?” WonderWife™ asked me as I shed my work attire and donned my customary jeans and t-shirt.

“To Don’s house,” I said.

“That’s unusual. What are you guys doing?”

“I don’t want to tell you.”

“There’s no way you're leaving the house without telling me what you’re up to,” she said with a smile.

I covered my mouth with my hand and mumbled, “Mgoingtoplayvidgames.”

“I’m sorry…what?”

I took a deep breath. This was inevitable. “I’m going over to play XBox. A group of guys are getting on line to play. It’s Halo Tuesday.”

She gave me her signature “you’re such a geek” reaction, which is to roll her eyes, sigh ever so slightly and internally question how she could have possibly ended up with a guy like me.

“Have fun being you,” she said to me as I kissed her and headed out the door.

Sounds like it IS fun being you. Especially on Halo Tuesdays. She's just jealous.

bah ha haha: "halo tuesdays"

next time she calls you a geek you should tell her that at least your idea of "Gaming" doesn't involve dice and your imagination. That's my hubby does when he's gaming with friends.

Pirate...I can assure you there is not a fiber in my wife's being that's jealous about me playing Halo.

Jonathan...Thanks!

SciFi...We do, otherwise we shrivel and perish.

Papa...See Pirate's answer.

Theresa...I find that the less she knows about my gaming habits the better.

Dude... the greatest moment in a geeks life is when he comes to terms with his geekiness. Then when his wife accepts it its even better.

LOL... my husband has done that a time or two... and he isn't a geek in the least. Okay... maybe a little.

PapaK...Acceptance from my wife comes with an incredible amount of crap.

Shelle...And you love him for it.

Glad to hear there is a level of crap to tolerate with the acceptance. I'm getting the crap right now and barely scratching the surface of acceptance. Enjoy your killing spree!

Dad...There's always crap to tolerate. Always.
