I'm Still Disgusting

I’m recovering from the deep fried orgy that was the LA County Fair. The Fair represents everything that’s great and everything that’s wrong about America at the same time. I love the fair for so many reasons, but mostly because every year, they have tons of new food products. Some good. Some scary. Most of them deep fried.

In the good column, we have the deep fried Pop Tart. It’s a strawberry Pop Tart, battered, fried and topped with strawberry syrup. Digging in, it’s hard to tell where the batter ends and the Pop Tart begins. And that's a good thing. It’s crispy and super sweet and was really freakin’ good.

In the bad column was the deep fried White Castle burger. They take a White Castle burger, batter it and fry it. And yes, it’s as bad as you think. Inside the crust, the burger turns into a disgusting mess of oozing cheese and onion that somehow manages to be both gooey and dry at the same time. Believe me, I'm not one to shy away from something fried, but this burger was an inedible abomination.
