I'm giving the Bean a bath and he's telling me about his day. This is something relatively new for him and is a welcome change over what he used to do when I asked him about his day, which was to ignore the question completely and talk about trucks.
Suddenly he busts out, “Mama dropped a pineapple on my head.”
Since the Bean's penchant for lying has been established, I never quite believe anything that comes out of the kid's mouth these days. So I ask the obvious follow up questions—Was it a Maui Gold? Was it ripe? What were you doing that made Mom try to beat you with tropical fruit? He thought this was all pretty funny.
Later in the evening, while pouring a much needed glass of wine, I relayed the Bean's latest fabrication to Jules.
She sheepishly looked down and said, “Um, yeah that one's true.”
